MS Academics

At the DCE Middle School, students are assigned to "houses" — small schools within our large school — wherein students are taught by a team of teachers. Our Portrait of a Graduate framework assesses student readiness based on the breadth and depth of their coursework, participation in extracurricular activities, standardized test scores, grades, community service, and ability to demonstrate soft skills within and beyond the classroom. At the secondary level, core and encore classes are assigned to 16 career clusters to help students plan their career and post-secondary paths around their personal interests, strengths and skills. Our robust Academic and Career Program helps students make informed choices about their interests, our encore classes offer them opportunities to explore and our diverse co-curricular activities allow them to develop life skills, make new friends and pursue their passions.
