• Start Time: 7:20 AM (Doors open at 7:00 a.m.)
• There will be a drop-off line in the morning.  Please allow enough time for your child to enter the building on time.  Late=Tardy
• Breakfast is free for those students who have qualified for free or reduced lunch.
• Dismissal:  2:32 PM
• If you are unable to pick up your child by 2:45 PM, they will be able to wait at Boys & Girls Club which is open until 6:30 PM.

Three Lunch Periods:  

• Two houses eat lunch together:  6D & 7D, 6C & 7C, 6E & 7E
• Students can bring cold lunch from home.
• Each student is allowed 3 free lunches if account dips below $0.
• Money deposited before 8 AM is available that same day.
• Students eat for the first 20 minutes and then head outside for recess. 
• Students need to dress appropriately for the weather.  We go outside if the “feels like” temperature is above zero.

A/B Days: A days and B days ensure that our Encore classes are offered to students for the same amount of time each school year. A calendar with A and B days is listed on the website.

WIN (What I Need): It is time during the school day for students to engage in targeted instruction, enrichment, and additional academic support outside of the normal class period.  This is also a time to complete homework practice and work on iReady lessons.

Interventions: Students identified as needing additional support in reading, math, English language, or emotional/behavioral support will be provided interventions within their schedule (WIN and/or during class). 

House Assignments:   Placement of students on houses is random due to complexity of our middle school schedule. Often times house placement is due to which encore class a student has chosen.  We do not honor parent requests, and once the school year begins, a house assignment change is very difficult.
Transition to Middle School:  Transition is an orientation program for incoming 6th grade students.  This is a chance for students to meet within their houses for a full day in the building learning their schedule, the building, and creating relationships.

MS Music teachers will be visiting 5th grade classes next week to demonstrate the different choices for the performance-based Music classes

Your child will be getting an envelope with information about the choices next week. Email to select the class will be sent out Feb. 8th.

Canvas: Class information can be found in Canvas for each class.  This includes homework assignments, grades, calendars, To-do lists, teacher contacts, and class requirements.  

Organization: Students have 7 classes including WIN.  Some students do well with zipped binders and accordian files and even personal planners.  We recommend periodic backpacks clean outs too! 

Study Habits: Set a time for homework each night

Homework Club:  Meets after school M, T, and R from 2:30-3:30 pm
